Workplace violence (WPV) has increased in recent years, culminating in the horrifying murder of NCNA member June Onkundi by one of her patients. 

This page is designed to be a brief list of resources for nurses and other healthcare workers who are struggling with the stress of WPV or grieving the loss of a colleague.

ANA Webinar - Workplace Violence against Nurses: What You Can Do. A breathtaking statistic that cannot be ignored: 1 in 4 nurses are assaulted in the workplace. This on-demand webinar addresses what every nurse needs to know about the challenge of workplace violence against nurses.

ANA’s #EndNurseAbuse campaign is designed to identify strategies to address barriers to nurses and other health care workers reporting violence and abuse, and to strengthen 'zero-tolerance' policies.

Hope4NC is a free and confidential emotional support program through the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. 

  • The Hope4Healers Helpline is a spinoff of the Hope4NC program specifically catered towards healthcare workers.

The Well-Being Initiative is a joint effort between several national nurses organizations, including the American Nurses Association, that serves as nurses’ guide to mental health support services.
