North Carolina’s Opportunities in the Year of the Nurse

In honor of the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth, the World Health Organization has declared 2020 the “International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.” ANA and other organizations are joining forces to elevate the role of nurses and celebrate their contributions to healthcare.

NCNA President Dennis Taylor and NCNA President-Elect Meka Douthit EL were both interviewed by North Carolina News Service as part of its coverage today of the Year of the Nurse and Midwife. They discussed legislative issues, such as the SAVE Act, as ways that North Carolina could honor Florence Nightingale’s legacy by increasing access to quality healthcare.
