Three ways to give comments to the Bylaws Committee regarding the proposal:
Information to review regarding Bylaws proposal:
The NCNA Bylaws Committee is accepting comments on the proposed bylaws change unanimously recommended by the NCNA Board of Directors after thorough research, data review and discussion as it relates to an evaluation of the 2013 governance changes. The Board review determined that some of the desired impacts of the 2013 changes have not been fully achieved and changes are needed as a result. The proposed changes would return NCNA to a Nominations Committee structure and also adjust seating on the Board to increase diversity.
Additionally, stronger resources will be provided to regions by establishing a Regional Engagement Director fully devoted to regional member engagement and outreach, increasing the number of significant leadership positions available within the organization but reducing the total time commitment required to commit to them.
Further explanation of the proposed changes are available above. You are encouraged to review the information and contact Board members if you have questions or concerns. Official comments for the Bylaws Committee should be submitted by March 2, 2019 through this survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2019BylawsChanges or by emailing RNs@ncnurses.org.
Although the NCNA Bylaws Committee has ruled a portion of these amendments as substantive, they can be forwarded to the NCNA Board of Directors for consideration at their April 5 meeting unless member comment shows significant opposition to the change. In addition to submitting written comment, members may provide verbal comment at the April meeting by phone or in-person. To sign up, please email SarahRoyster@ncnurses.org.
