Fellowship Goals

Provide support, access, and leadership opportunities for under-represented nursing groups in North Carolina (including diverse races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, disabilities, and religions.)

Increase access to diverse nursing professionals for professional nursing associations, including committee members, chairs, board members, and other leaders.

Provide the nursing profession with prepared and engaged leaders for leadership positions in clinical, executive, and community nursing environments.

Leadership Eligibility

All candidates should be able to identify and share at least one year of experience in a formal or informal leadership role. This can be broad and include professional, student or community endeavors. The goal of this program is to increase the available pool of prepared nurse leaders from communities historically underrepresented in the profession. Therefore, candidate preference will be given to nurses early in their leadership path and/or those experiencing barriers to their leadership goals and progression. The program is not intended for nurses with significant leadership experience.

Membership Eligibility

All candidates should hold active memberships with the North Carolina Nurses Association or in a minority serving nurses association in North Carolina.
