Council of Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurses

The Psych council is open for membership to any Psychiatric Mental Health nurse that is a member of NCNA. Non-members are encouraged to join NCNA and then select the Psych Council as a preferred council membership.

We provide a forum for discussion of practice issues and concerns within mental health for the psych generalist (RN,LPN, students)  and APRN (NP,CNS, students). The nature of our council provides a platform to:

  • Offer opportunities for collegiality among its members;
  • Serves as a clearing house for information;
  • Clarifies scope of practice matters;
  • Responds to local, regional, state and national matters affecting practice;
  • Monitors legislation;
  • Creates position papers; provides speakers for other organizations
  • Represents the interests of mental health consumers and our members; and,
  • Provides a unified voice for PMH nurses in North Carolina.
