Description:
Coronavirus (COVID 19) is an emerging public health emergency, nurses need to have access to current information and resources to better care for themselves and the community. They need to know the facts to help decrease fear and negative impacts to the community.

Speaker Bios:

Dr. Bao-Ping Zhu, MD, PhD, MS (EIS ’96) currently serves as the Director of Quality Performance Management and Research Programs at the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors. He has more than 30 years of public health experience working for CDC, state health departments, WHO, and in foreign countries. He had post-doctoral research training in epidemiology and biostatistics at INSERM, France, and served as CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer (Class of 1996).

Dr. Paul Li is the founder of Calvin J Li Memorial Foundation, and a board member of United Chinese Americans (UCA). He had a bachelor’s degree in virology from Wuhan University and PHD from Cornell University, and conducted virological research for seven years at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Cornell University.

Dr. Helen Shih is a holistic health consultant and a former associate professor at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. She has a large family in Wuhan. She has previously worked in developing infra-red imaging for airport screening for infectious diseases (during SARS and H1N1) and the use of Chinese medicine during the outbreaks. As a board member of United Chinese Americans, she is also working with Chinese communities in Houston and UCA members across the country to deal with this disease and its impact to the community.

Dr. Justin Chen is the Medical Director at the Massachusetts General Hospital; Executive Director, MGH Center for Cross-Cultural Student Emotional Wellness; Assistant Professor & Co-Director of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
