Volunteer with NCNA!

NCNA is looking for your knowledge and insight to help lead the organization and fulfill its mission. Volunteer today! NCNA’s strength and vitality is a result of the time and effort provided by those who volunteer to serve their colleagues and further the profession of nursing.

On May 8, 2009, the NCNA Board of Directors voted to modify the current volunteer structure to create a more efficient and effective system of time and resource management. Under the revised structure, NCNA will be moving toward a model of more short-term task forces appointed for specific issues and activities as opposed to a two-year term on a committee or commission. The Board believes this will lead to greater volunteer satisfaction and increased output.

As it stands, the current committees will be replaced by these short-term task forces with exception for those of the House of Delegates, namely Nominating, Bylaws, and Reference and the standing committees of the Board of Directors, namely Executive, Finance, and Policy.

The form you know well as the ‘Consent to Serve’ will be replaced by a Volunteer Interest Survey. This survey will be used to gauge interest from our members on a variety of topics and issues. A database will be created for volunteer opportunities and interests where members might be asked to participate on a committee or task force, brainstorm on a project, critique drafts of letters, develop or respond to surveys, create or revise position papers, etc.

We think this is a very exciting time to volunteer and be a part of your professional association!  If you are interested in contributing your time, please fill out the Volunteer Interest Survey and Volunteer Service Statement and return to NCNA. You may either mail to PO Box 12025, Raleigh, NC 27605-2025 or fax to 919 829 5807.
