Brad Sherrod is a hard-working nurse and one of NCNA’s most active members. As early as high school, Brad developed an interest in nursing. His uncle, an experienced nurse, suggested that Brad consider the profession. After shadowing a male nurse (and watching plenty of episodes of ER), Brad was hooked. As an undergraduate at Barton College, he became active in a student nursing group, which gave him the opportunity to attend NCNA’s annual convention. While there, he learned about a masters program at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro in which he eventually enrolled. After graduating, Brad held positions as a staff nurse, charge nurse, and assistant manager. He now serves as Director for Supplemental Nursing and Patient Flow at High Point Regional Health System, where he uses Lean Six Sigma, a process improvement methodology, to work through improvement initiatives. Brad believes that NCNA and the contacts he acquired through the organization helped him get a few of his jobs, including his current position. “That’s how I found out about my current job….at an NCNA meeting,” he says. Brad has chaired the NCNA membership committee and feels he has benefited from the various networking and leadership opportunities NCNA has to offer. When he gets some rare free time, Brad enjoys cooking and grilling, watching the Food Network (he’s a big fan of Emeril Lagasse), and spending time outdoors. Brad is a talented nurse and an outstanding member of NCNA.
